LET'S MAKE A TASSEL!!

Here is an easy way to make a tassel.  You can make any size, use any material (string, yarn, ribbon, etc.) using these simple steps.

You will need:

Scissors
Yarn (or other material)
Yarn needle
A pad of paper, book, piece of cardboard or other material to wind the yarn around

 1.  Wind the yarn around your  piece of cardboard.  I used a notepad.  The more time you wind the yarn around, the puffier your tassel will be.

2.  Thread a piece of yarn through the needle and push it behind the yarn.

4.  Tie that piece of yarn in a tight knot.

5.  Turn everything over and cut through the yarn.

6.  This is what it will look like at this point.

7.  Cut another length of yarn and wind it around the top of the tassel.  Pull it VERY tight and tie a knot.

8.  Take one of the yarn ends of the piece of yarn used to wrap the top.  Thread it through the needle and push the needle down through the center of the tassel.  Do the same thing with the other end of the wrapping yarn.

9.  Hold the tassel in your hand and cut off the bottom edge.  If you are unsure, leave more yarn than you think you need - you can always cut it shorter!

10.  Take one of the ends of the piece of yarn at the TOP of the tassel and thread it through the edge of the knitted/crocheted item.

11.  Tie a knot.

12.  Just as you did with the wrapping yarn, thread each piece of the yarn used to attach the tassel back down through the center of the tassel.

13.  Trim as needed.  Ta Da!!  You're done!!
